On behalf of Riccardo Dolcetti, SIC President, Judy E. Garber, AACR President, and Margaret Foti, AARC CEO, the SIC is proud to announce that to create a unique opportunity for Italian young investigators to participate at the most comprehensive and important cancer research meeting, also this year SIC and AACR will support three AACR-SIC Scholar-in-Training Awards.
The SIC and AACR offer these Scholar-in-Training Awards to enhance the education and training of young SIC scientists by providing financial support for their attendance at the AACR Annual Meeting 2012 taking place Saturday, March 31 - Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the McCormick Place West Chicago, IL. These awards are provided to offset a portion of the registration, travel, accommodation, and subsistence expenses incurred in attending this meeting.
AACR-SIC Scholar-in-Training Awards will be presented to young scientists (under age 35) who submit the most highly rated abstracts relating to cancer research. Abstracts may focus on basic, translational, clinical, or cancer prevention research. It is required that applicants have a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) or have at least 4 years of scientific activities after "Laurea Magistrale". In addition, all applicants are required to have authorship on three publications with at least one peer-reviewed first author publication. AACR-SIC Awardees must be SIC members; however, they are not required to be AACR members. AACR non-members who receive the AACR-SIC Scholar-in-Training Award will also receive a complimentary one-year AACR membership.
Upon submission of their abstracts, each applicant should email the abstract "control number" along with their full CV including a list of all publications to Deborah L. Crabtree at deborah.crabtree@aacr.org and Michael Beveridge at michael.beveridge@aacr.org.
The application deadline is Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. US Eastern Time. This deadline has been postponed only for the applicants of these AACR-SIC Scholar-in-Training Awards. The OASIS abstract submitter for the SIC members has been reopened on Monday, January 30th until February 3.
